Pressure and Time

And we, who with unveiled faces all reflet the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.   2 Corinthians 3:18  NIV

Have you ever stopped to consider how our lives as Christians are comparable to the life of a diamond? It all has to do with pressure and time.

Over millions of years and about 75 miles below the Earth’s surface, carbon under tremendous pressure transforms into a diamond. Now, while we don’t have millions of years to live here on Earth, God takes the time we do have to transform us into something beautiful.

As we go through our trials, the pressure mounts sometimes to a breaking point.  We wait and wait, so desperate to get out of the heat of that moment. God has other plans. We have to go through it in order to reflect his likeness, no matter how long it takes. The pain will eventually subside and we will be better for going through it.

We start from dust. We go through the process of pressure and time. Then, we are refined, our rough edges smoothed away.

There will come a day when the sweet Lord will bring us home, and on that blessed day he will hold us in his hand and say, ”perfect!”   Then we will be in heaven radiating his glory…forever! We will be glowing and brilliant before our Father.

The next time you look at your diamond, be reminded of the process it had to go through in order to become so beautiful. It’s all about pressure and time.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to hold on. Let us see on a daily basis what it is we are living for. We are living for you. Even though the times of trial are hard, I want to say thank you for them all. Without them I wouldn’t be beautiful. Hallelujah to you Jesus, we will live forever. Help us to endure till that day. In Jesus’ name and all according to your will, Amen.

From the day I received my first diary in the second grade, I've had a passion expressing myself through writing. Later as a journalist and novelist, I realized words, if used powerfully, have the ability to touch, stir, and reach from the depths of one soul to another. Today as a writing and health coach, I inspire others to live their extraordinary life and encourage them to share their unique stories.
